Black Cat Lacquer - Tetris and Let Them Eat Cake

Tonight I've got a couple Black Cat Lacquers to show you! First up is Tetris, an assortment of multicoloured square glitters in a clear base; I can see gold, red, blue, green, and purple in this. All in all it's a fun polish, and the metallic squares really stand out. Really cute! I layered this over a deep grey- I think it might have been Nubar Palisade.

I also have Let Them Eat Cake to show you; this is a delicate mixture of pastel glitters and tiny white glitters. I chose to layer it over Lime Crime's Milky Ways from the Lime Crime Desserts d'Antionette collection- a very fitting combination! Below you can see it at one coat- I like how it looks here, just delicately speckled.

At three coats:

I'm a big fan of choosing fitting lacquers for correspondingly appropriate occasions- in this case, I wore Let Them Eat Cake to see the movie "Farewell, My Queen" (a movie about Marie Antionette and the days leading up to the French Revolution, as told through the eyes of a servant). Here is the trailer if you're interested- it was quite good!

What do you think of these two glitters? Have you seen the movie "Farewell, My Queen"?

  1. Let Them Eat Cake is a hilarious name - and a beautiful polish. So Is Tetris, and see where the name come from :)

    1. Think of how fun it would be to have a nail polish in which the glitter resembled each block in Tetris! If only that kind of glitter existed. :D A fun concept either way, though.

    1. I think this one is pretty well done- sometimes they can get a little corny, but this feels pretty authentic. Highly recommend!

  4. I have not seen Farewell My Queen. I have seen Coppola's Marie Antoinette like 10 times! I went to Basilica St. Denis, where is buried, along with several other French royals, it was a humbling experience. Her son's heart is there too, in a glass urn. The DNA was verified in 2004... Anyways, fascinating part of history from almost any perspective.

    1. Definitely fascinating history- I actually haven't seen Coppola's Marie Antionette, but think I'll have to check it out. I did really like seeing the story told from a servant's perspective, though! Not the typical approach to take, but it was really effective and engaging.

    2. Hmmm, I'm not too keen on the lesbian tones of Farewell my queen. Nothing against lesbians, I just wonder if that is true. (There were all kinds of ugly rumors about the queen, like incest.) I know she was best friends with Duchesse de Polignac.

    3. I do think they played up the lesbian themes for the sake of the trailer. I didn't find it to be too much of a focal point in the actual movie. Or at least, other more persuasive plot lines captured my attention.
