Lynnderella - Love, Lace, and Lilacs

Tonight I have another layering combination with Essie Mojito Madness- this time I want to show you Lynnderella Love, Lace, and Lilacs.

Love, Lace, and Lilacs is a mixture of white glitters (small glitter, hexagonal glitter, bar glitter, square glitter) in a clear base. It looks alright over Mojito Madness, but I think this would really shine over a pale pastel colour, maybe a very light lavender. I'll definitely be trying that next time.

And I must be channeling Adriana of Liquor, Lube and Lipstick, because I couldn't resist sharing a drink picture with you. I thought this bottle of Absinthe was a fitting companion to a green-and-white manicure!

What do you think of Essie Mojito Madness paired with Lynnderella Love, Lace, and Lilacs?

Experimental Layering Post

I've been meaning to do this post for ages, as I've accumulated requests for the last month or two. Anyways, finally it's here!

Top to bottom we have Lynnderella Chocolotta Love over a white base, Ozotic 505 over black (which makes the colour shift look incredible!), Picture Polish Mask-a-rade over black, and Up Colors Beijo na Boca also over black.

On the thumb you can see Nails Inc Cheyne Walk over black, which doesn't really discernibly change the look of it so much; with one more coat it would look the exact same as it would without any base colour.

I hope these layering swatches were helpful for you! Out of these, I think Ozotic 505 and Picture Polish Mask-a-rade benefit the most from being layered over black- it really brings out the colour shift.

And the winner is... (Connect the Dots Giveaway)

Today is the big day! Of course, in order to properly choose the winner for the Lynnderella Connect the Dots giveaway, we need a host of Domos! With the big Sparkly Domo officiating, of course (there isn't anyone more qualified!).

This hi-tech giveaway-entry-mixer (which bears a striking resemblance to a giant mace) was used to thoroughly mix all the entries.

Some tiny Domos mistook the giveaway pool for an actual pool. Completely understandable.

Sparkly Domo was less than impressed: "Hey! Get out of the giveaway pool right now!"

Our esteemed Domo selects a lucky winner...

Who will it be?

Jacqueline Colman is the lucky winner!

How exciting! I've sent Jacqueline an email, and hopefully she will respond within 48 hours.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered! I really appreciated reading all your entries and clever haikus. Shout outs to Kawaii Kagura of Nailpocalypse, who had perhaps the best haiku:

You must scratch me there!
Yes, above my tail! Behold,
elevator butt.

How funny is that? Good stuff, everyone!

Lynnderella ChocoLotta Love

As my Lynnderella Connect the Dots Giveaway enters its last week, I've got another Lynnderella to share with you today. This is Lynnderella ChocoLotta Love. This is the first Lynnderella polish I saw that really created a lemming for me. I love the combination of deep velvety brown glitter with bright candy-like glitter in a multitude of colours: turquoise, ruby red, pink, purple, and even a few specks of bright chartreuse. The overall effect is satisfyingly chocolate-y and sweet.

In order to amp up the opacity, I layered this over Sally Hansen Cocoa A-Go-Go, from the Insta-Dri line last fall. I remembered to nab this picture before I painted over all of the fingers with ChocoLotta Love (the index and middle fingers have one coat of Lynnderella over Cocoa A-Go-Go, while ring and pinky fingers have just one coat of Cocoa A-Go-Go). This is definitely a layering polish.

This is how ChocoLotta Love looks at two coats, layered over a dark brown base:

Overall, I'm pretty happy with this. A base colour is definitely a necessity in order to achieve opacity, but the end of effect is quite nice. It definitely satisfied my sweet tooth!

What do you think of Lynnderella ChocoLotta Love? What other colours might be nice to layer it over?

Lynnderella Connect the Dots Giveaway!

I'm extremely happy to be able to give my readers a chance to win Lynderella's Connect the Dots!

I know this one has been a hard one to get ahold of, and I'm hoping this will go to someone who has been admiring it. I had been lusting after it for a long time, but finally got my hands on Cover Band's Sticks N Stones version of it; when Connect the Dots finally arrived via the Llarowe wish list system, I decided I didn't really need both of them... What better opportunity could I have to share the love? Therefore, this unopened bottle of Lynnderella's Connect the Dots will go to one lucky reader.

These are the rules for entering the contest (don't worry- I'm not going to make you jump through hoops... well, not that many, anyways):

1) Be a public follower of my blog via GFC (this is simply the easiest way for me to keep track of readers who want to enter).

2) Leave a comment on this post and give me your GFC name, along with an email address at which I can reach you (if you'd rather not publicly leave your email, you can also email me at thelacquertracker@gmail.com to let me know what address I can use to contact you). If you should win, then I will email you and you will have 48 hours to accept your prize.

Information regarding extra entries:

Admittedly I'm a little sceptical when it comes to this extra entries business that a lot of blog contests incorporate... mostly it seems to entail following a blog via a bazillion different social media platforms (most of them which I don't even have) and blogging about the contest on your own blog (which until I started a blog of my own I always felt was a little bit unfair to non-bloggers). So, these are MY rules regarding extra entries:

1) Write me a haiku (the formula is 5 / 7 / 5, by the way!). It can be about anything: nail polish, your summer vacation plans, how you currently feel about your job, or pretty much whatever comes to mind! This makes tallying all the entries more enjoyable for me, therefore I'll award you an extra entry.

These final two ways to earn extra entries are actually already decided. They are:

2) If you were a follower previous to the announcement of this giveaway, you'll gain an extra entry. While I'm excited at the prospect of new followers who will hopefully enjoy my blog, I also want to reward the readers who have been with me since before I decided to do this contest.

3) If you're a regular or semi-regular commenter on my blog, you'll gain an extra entry. This will be at my discretion, and I won't confirm wether or not you got an extra entry, but if I've seen your name pop up here or there, you'll probably be getting one.

This contest is open internationally, and will end on June 21st, 2012, at 11:59 PM (CST). A winner will be announced the next day, sent an email, and be given 48 hours to respond.

Good luck!
