Jessica - Iridescent Eye

Tonight I have a quick post for you: Jessica Iridescent Eye (aka one of the many dupes of Chanel Peridot). It's one you've probably seen many times before, in one incarnation or another, and in my opinion it's well worth having. It's extremely beautiful, and the colour shift is incredible. Indoors it's extremely shiny and reflective, and in the sun it sparkles.

While I don't have the Chanel to compare this to, the formula on Iridescent Eye was great, and perfect after two coats. For the price, it's hard to go wrong!

What do you think of Jessica Iridescent Eye? Do you have one of the Chanel Peridot dupes in one form or another?

Jessica Bronze Tailed

Today I have Jessica Bronze Tailed to share with you; this is one of the trio of Jessica polishes that copies the very popular Chanel Illusion d'Ombre lacquers. I don't have Chanel Quartz, so I can't tell you if this is an exact dupe for it, but I've done my best to capture it in pictures for you:

Bronze Tailed is a curious shade- a taupey tan with tonnes of silvery shimmer. I certainly don't have anything like it in my collection, but I'm not totally sold on it as a flattering colour. I don't find it unappealing either, though! Just unusual.

What do you think of Jessica Bronze Tailed?

And before I go, I'll leave you with this awesome music video from Rufus Wainwright's new album. I love pretty much everything about this, including Helena Bonham Carter's participation in it. Enjoy!

Jessica Smokey Feather / Revlon Carbonite Comparison

When Chanel's Illusions d’Ombres nail lacquer collection came out last year, it was extremely popular- especially the elusive multichromatic Peridot. Graphite, a very sparkly metallic dark grey was pretty sought after, too. A year later I have neither of those polishes, but I do have two similar colours: Jessica Smokey Feather and Revlon Carbonite.

Revlon Carbonite came out shortly after Chanel Graphite, and is one in an ever-expanding list of Revlon attempts at replicating popular Chanel nail colours. This particular attempt was not so successful; while it does look almost exactly like the graphite in a pencil, it falls short on depth and the gold sparkle that made the Chanel version so popular. It does make me think of this, though:

Now that the obvious Star Wars reference has been made, we can move onto Jessica Smokey Feather. While I don't have the original Chanel to compare it to, by all accounts this seems to be a much better dupe. It has tonnes of depth, and plenty of lovely gold sparkle. Here is a side by side comparison:

Jessica Smokey Feather is on the index and ring fingers, Revlon Carbonite is on middle and pinky.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Jessica version- it's a mere fraction of the price of Chanel Graphite, and is beautiful in its own right. It's very sparkly, and next to it the Revlon seems to fall flat. That said, Revlon clearly has the better name. ;)

What do you think of these lacquers? Do you have the original Chanel version, or did you end up tracking down one of these substitutes?

Oh, and just a reminder- my Claire's Candy Shop giveaway will end tomorrow night. If you haven't entered yet and are interested in doing so, check out this post to find out if you're eligible and how to enter. Thanks!
