Nerd Lacquer - Hyperspace Bypass

Okay, guys. I have to start by letting you all know that I'm very, very sorry to do this to you. I'm going to show you something really shiny and cool, that you probably won't be able to find (unless you own it already, or buy it for astronomical prices on ebay). 

This is Nerd Lacquer Hyperspace Bypass. 

I LOVE this polish. I think it's insanely freaking cool. And not just because I'm a fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This is A Really Neat Lacquer. It's yellow, and sparkly gold, and glittery black, and it's exactly what I'd imagine an galactic taxicab would look like.

It's not what I'd usually think of as a flattering polish, but I really liked how this looked on my nails. Here's a (vaguely related) picture of my galactic taxicab nails with a giant glass planetary-lookin' orb (okay, lawn ornament):

Also unrelated, but because I think it looks cool, here's another picture of the same orb. It glows in the dark! I think it's pretty neat, anyways. Looks like a big swirly planet. Or maybe a bunch of hyperspace bypasses. I'll let you decide.

One last thing to add: let's all hope that Nerd Lacquer returns someday and starts to make super awesome shiny pretty things for our nails again.

Nerd Lacquer Cyance Friction

As you might have noticed, I can't get enough of the awesome indie lacquers out there. And I have yet another great one for you today! Before I go any further, behold:

Gorgeous combination of bright blue-green with copper glitter? Check!
Out of this world purple flash? Check!
Awesome name? Check-ity check!

Yep, this is pretty great. I don't think I totally managed to capture how bright and always visible the purple flash in this is. You can see it quite strongly at almost all times, most especially when indoors. Application was good, and this was two coats. Overall I'm really happy with this one!

Nerd Lacquer - Quantum Bluniverse

Today I've got yet another awesome Nerd Lacquer to share with you! This time it's Quantum Bluniverse, a deep sea blue base filled with a whole bunch of awesome glitter: big gold and bright blue hex glitter, plus a very strong golden shimmer which runs throughout the polish. The interesting thing about the golden shimmer is that the shimmer particles are very large. I'm not prepared to call it glitter, but it's not your average golden shimmer either. Very cool.

This is two coats of Quantum Bluniverse:

How great is this? It applied well, and it wasn't hard to get the glitter out of the bottle and onto the nail. I did have a technique to ensure I did get lots of glitter, though- I made sure to shake the bottle after painting every 5 nails.

Nerd Lacquer - I Aim to Misbehave

Today I have Nerd Lacquer's "I Aim to Misbehave" to share with you. If you're unfamiliar, this polish references the show Firefly, which you should absolutely watch if you haven't yet. It also has an incredibly awesome opening theme song:

I Aim to Misbehave is a plummy purple-red colour with tonnes of glitter in it. I definitely recommend doubling up on a thick top coat in order to smooth it out. This is two coats, with plenty of Seche Vite topcoat.

I like this polish, but I do find myself wishing it was more of a jelly base, in order to let more of the lovely glitter shine through. I found it was getting covered up by the base a little too much for my taste, making it look a bit bumpy. 

Finally, I want to leave you with a couple more pictures of a Nerd Lacquer polish I reviewed earlier, and which I have no reservations about... this is Warrior Ethos, glittery jelly red perfection! 

Nerd Lacquer - Warrior Ethos

This lacquer is awesome. Pure, undiluted awesome. Pictures first, then we'll talk:

This is a vibrant red jelly polish, with tonnes of glittery complexity going on: small copper and black glitter flecks, larger copper hex glitter, bigger round black glitter, and a mysterious reflective purple glitter than comes out to play at certain angles (visible in the last photo, most notably on the index finger). This covers perfectly in two coats, which is a bit unexpected for a jelly; it's even and opaque, yet still a bit squishy looking. The formula was great, and application easy.

It's official, I'm in love with Nerd Lacquer.

Nerd Lacquer - Holy Grail

I was so excited to receive my first Nerd Lacquer order the other day; for the uninitiated, Nerd Lacquer is another one of the indie nail polish brands that has become very popular as of late. The first Nerd Lacquer polish I have to show you is called Holy Grail. I'm going to use Nerd Lacquer's own description of this polish, because I think it's rather good, and quite accurate:

Holy Grail is a super-fine-grained satiny linear holo in a dusty blue-green base with silver microglitter, medium blue-green iridescent glitter, and a liberal sprinkling of big square and hexagonal silver holo glitter. Oh, also? Glows in the damn dark.

Glow-in-the-dark linear holo glitter polish. That's about all that needs to be said.

What's extra fun about this one is that indoors or in shade, the linear holo is invisible but the blue/green iridescent glitter is AMAZING. In full sun, the blue/green glitter disappears, and it's WHOA, HOLO CITY. And then of course in the dark, oooooooo! Magic!

Yep! As noted, this lacquer is glittery, holographic, and it glows in the dark. The base, as mentioned above, is a dusty blue-green, and it is a rather subtle linear holographic. Admittedly I did not have the opportunity to try it on a blazingly sunny day, but in the somewhat overcast sunlight I had, it was quite subtle. Something I certainly don't mind in a polish that as a lot of other things going on! And as for the glow-in-the-dark aspect of this polish, you'll have to take my word that is it VERY, VERY, glow in the dark. I'd forgotten about that and freaked myself out last night when I was going to bed ("OMG, why are my fingers glowing?!"). For the below pictures I used three coats of Holy Grail, and I really regret not shaking it thoroughly between coats, as you'll see most of the lovely glitter I got out on my first coat got buried by the subsequent coats of polish after the glitter settled in the bottle a bit. 

See all that glorious glitter in the bottle which didn't quite end up on my nails? Definitely shake this beauty between coats.

I also received this cute fuzzy-sparkly-ball ring in my order; it fits nicely over the cap of the polish, but on a brave day, I might wear it out. ;)

I'm pretty thrilled with my first order from Nerd Lacquer! Everything came thoughtfully packaged, and I can't wait to try the other colours I purchased (you'll see Warrior Ethos tomorrow).
