Tonight I have two new colours from the Sally Hansen Insta Dri Fall line: In A Flurry and Freeze.
In A Flurry is black with a subtle green shimmer (along with a few rarely witnessed flashes of purple); this was opaque in two coats. This is one of the cases where the shimmer is more visible in the bottle than on that nail. Especially once the lacquer dried, it lost a lot of depth; too bad, because when I first applied it I thought it looked amazing.
I have to admit, when I saw Scrangie's swatches of this, I ran straight out and got it. I don't know if I got an off bottle, but mine doesn't look as jaw-droppingly awesome as her version. A little disappointment here, but still an interesting polish.
Next up I have Freeze, which is an awesome glowy-looking blue, with tonnes of blue shimmer (more of a glass fleck than a glitter). Tonnes of depth, and very eye-catching. Also opaque in two coats. I love this one!
This reminds me a lot of a cross between two of my favourite polishes: Sally Hansen HD Laser and OPI Swimsuit... Nailed It. Where Laser is darker, and Swimsuit is perhaps a bit lighter, this is somewhere in between. I really love polishes like this- very intense, and they almost seem to glow. Gorgeous.
Of these two, Freeze is definitely my favourite, and I highly recommend it if you don't have a blue like this in your collection. In A Flurry will probably be your thing if you're fond of black polishes, but I would have been okay without it.
Which shade do you prefer? Have you picked up any of the Sally Hansen Insta Dri for Fall polishes?
I like the subtle green shimmer in Flurry, and I love the color of Freeze, but not the being metallic part :)
ReplyDeleteHehe, well, I wouldn't necessarily describe it as metallic. I think it's more of a glass fleck/shimmer polish (it's just a very dense shimmer- maybe it makes it look more metallic than it really is?).
DeleteMy first thought when I saw In A Flurry in photos was "Wow". When I saw it in the store for some reason I was like "I don't think this is gonna look as good on the nail". It kind of reminded me of that one polish from the CG Hunger Games collection. Smoke and Ashes I think?
ReplyDeleteIt absolutely reminds me of Smoke and Ashes! Why do I keep buying these black + shimmer polishes?? :P
Deletei just picked up flurry last week! i really need to try it, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your post about it!
DeleteI have both of these and I really like them. I think there may be some dud versions of In a Flurry out there because I've heard of other people saying their bottles looked different.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that, too- too bad I didn't get the "good" version! :P Does your version look a lot different than mine?
DeleteI saw these in the stores, but passed on them. I do love the colors, but I heard that the brushes for the Inst-dri line are really moppy...is that true?
ReplyDeleteUgh, the brushes can be terrible. Very thick and long, kinda paddle-like. I guess it's good if you have really wide nails, it might suit the brush better. At first I really hated the brush, but now I'm getting the hang of it.
Deleteboth of these colors look fantastic BUT I'm scared to try them out, lol. Insta Dri tend to stain horribly on me. I tried Blazin Blue once and it looked like I killed a smurf when I took it off...
ReplyDeleteThese didn't stain on me, although I've had terrible trouble with other blues by Sally Hansen. Overall, I'd say be careful with removing the blue, but I didn't notice any terrible staining.
DeleteGreat blue!

Thanks!
DeleteFreeze looks amazing! Scrangie's swatches sometimes make the polishes look a lot better than they really are in real life, I've noticed lol.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I know, it's almost a bad thing that her nails/photographs look so incredible.
