Today I have one of the new Nfu Oh Jelly Syrup polishes to show you- this is Nfu Oh JS03 (I really wish they would assign names to the Nfu Oh line- it would be much easier to keep everything straight!). Nfu Oh JS03 is a light clean-looking dove grey in a jelly formula. At two coats, as seen below, it is still a little sheer and squishy. With a third coat, it would likely be opaque. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and love the idea of a squishy jelly grey polish- it's quite unique!
Then I decided to layer HITS Glitter Forte 401 (a fine black glitter) overtop... I'm not so crazy about the result. The HITS 401 base is slightly tinted, so it changed the Nfu Oh to a muddier, darker grey. I think next time I'll try this glitter by itself.
While I applied 401 quite sparsely on my fingernails, on the thumb nail you can really see how dense it can be applied (this was one thick coat of HITS 401).
...and then I mucked it all up by trying to make a jelly sandwich with another coat of Nfu Oh JS03 overtop of the black glitter. I thought it would make for a good layering jelly, but not so much! Maybe I'll try it with another glitter and see if I have a better result.
What do you think of this Nfu Oh Jelly Syrup polish? Any insights about my jelly sandwich fail with HITS 401?
LOL, bummer when it turns out like this after all those layers - well, that comes with the territory when we like to play, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery true- but experimentation is also part of the fun, even when it doesn't work out perfectly!
DeleteThat's kinda what all of my jelly sandwich attempts end up like >.< I do like it with just the glitter on top, someday I'll cave and buy some of the Jelly Syrups.
ReplyDeleteI recommend this one, at least- it's very pretty, and I love the idea of a pale dove grey jelly. I might look into more of the Jelly Syrups in the future.
DeleteLol, that happens to me sometimes when there are too many layers. Starts to look like a thick mess on my nails. I'm loving the jelly syrup on its own, very pretty. I don't own any Nfu Oh polishes yet, but one day :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, definitely check out the Nfu Oh flakies if you're going to place an order! I love Nfu Oh polishes. And don't forget the Nfu Oh holographics! They're extraordinary. So basically "Wooo, Nfu Oh!!", I guess. :D
DeleteThis looks amazing!!! Jellies are one of my favourites!!
ReplyDelete(I just found your awesome blog and am now following :D)
Thank you so much for checking out my blog- I'll do the same with yours. :)
DeleteI wouldn't necessarily call it a "fail" except that it didn't turn out the way you'd hoped. I think it's pretty; kind of reminds me of a grayish granite! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's one way to look at it- a much more optimistic way, for sure! Thanks. :) I'll have to revisit this another time, maybe try the same thing with a different glitter/jelly.
DeleteIf you want a grey jelly that is sheer enough for jelly sammiches, definitely recommend the one from the OPI Ballet collection! But I'm sure you have thought about that already ;)
ReplyDeleteI certainly have been thinking about that one!! And it might yet find it's way into my stash. Or at least one of the OPI Ballet jellies- they all look lovely.
