Lacquistry - Plucked Spider

I recently received a small order from Lacquistry, which is another handmade "indie" nail lacquer line. Lately I can't get enough of these indie polishes! I decided to layer Lacquistry's Plucked Spider overtop of my Essie Bordeaux manicure from the other day. Plucked Spider is a wine-coloured jelly polish with a mixture of black and red glitters (including lots of bar glitter). This is the result of two coats of Plucked Spider over Essie Bordeaux:

In the bottle this looked really interesting, but to be honest, I wasn't crazy about it when I got it on the nail. Which was rather tricky, by the way. The formula was pretty gloopy and hard to control, and didn't really even out well which made this manicure pretty bumpy. The glitter doesn't really pop, and generally looks murky and cloudy.

I've been having great experiences with indie polishes, and I can't help but be a bit disappointed with this one. I have one more Lacquistry polish to try, so I hope I can give a glowing review of that one. What do you think of Plucked Spider? Have you tried any Lacquistry polishes? What was your experience?

  1. It's way too vampy for me, but I cannot help but wondering what it would look like on a snow white...
I don't own any "indie's" at all, and I only really have fallen in love with 2 I have seen, I feel it's a bit over hyped - plus they seem to be almost 100% glitters, that are nice, but I prefer something i can do nail art on...

    1. Next time I'll swatch it over a white polish to see how it will change the look of it. Which two indie polishes have you 'fallen in love with"?

    1. Agreed on the name- that's part of the reason I bought it!

  3. oh that is too bad that this polish disappointed you. I see what you say about the glitter not popping. I have never tried any Lacquistry polishes but i have seen great swatches. I also like Maria wonder how would it look like in a lighter base. Hugs*

    1. I'll be sure to try that and show you all some pictures before the end of the week! I'm curious to see how it turns out, too.
