I decided to use Nicole by OPI It's All About The Glam, a pretty and soft white that has lovely shimmer in it to keep it from looking too stark. Then I added translucent soap-bubble-esque microbeads to my ring finger to make a caviar accent nail. This was the result:
I'm really happy with how my first caviar manicure experience turned out; I think having the beads on all my fingers might have been overkill, at least for my taste, but I'm really happy with this as an accent nail. It also felt surprisingly comfortable to wear! I used a top coat over it, and that helped to keep everything in place.
A friend of mine also came over to experiment with the microbeads, and this was her manicure: Chanel Black Pearl with silver microbeads as an accent.
What do you think of our caviar manicures? Have you tried this look before?
In keeping with the caviar/fishegg manicure theme, we went to see the documentary "Jiro: Dreams of Sushi" that evening. I highly recommend it, especially if you like sushi! I'll leave you with the trailer for the movie:
beautiful caviar nails! i havent tried it yet but i just recently got a gift from one of my friends in panama and i cant wait to use it! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome- I can't wait to see it on your blog!
DeleteOmg translucent beads looks AMAZING!! Love your caviar combo!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandi! I do like how the translucent beads look really light and soap bubble-ish.
DeleteI love how crafty you are! I think this looks fabulous and just having it on the accent nail is really elegant. I think it prevents the beading overkill from having it on every finger (although 3D nails are pretty huge over in Asia).
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think having it on every finger would drive me a little crazy... this I really like, though! I'm kind of surprised how wearable it is.
DeleteI kind og like it in the white version, but caviar nails never really is going to be me. I did a while back a mini with sprinkles, and that is kind of the same - but don't attempt to pick your nose LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL, Maria! Haha, when I first did this, before I put top coat over it to keep everything in place, I kept thinking: "Oh no, these little beads are going to get in everything, including whatever food I'm eating!" The top coat definitely keeps things in place pretty well, though.
DeleteOh, I love the pretty, iridescent bubbles! I agree a whole hand would be a bit much to pull off, but it's a super accent.
ReplyDeleteMan, now I really want some sushi. ;)
Hehe, every time I watch the trailer it makes me insanely hungry for delicious sushi. I wish I could taste Jiro's sushi!
Deletelovely combo, those translucent beads are really something <3
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm so glad you like it. :)
DeleteI love that manicure (it really does look better as an accent nail imo), I love sushi, and I love documentaries. My point is I want sushi.
ReplyDeleteWanting sushi is pretty much my default setting! And definitely check out the documentary, it more or less consists of sushi-porn. Which is awesome.
DeleteI love your version, so delicate! I just purchased a kit of microbeads so I suspect I will be doing htis often. They're so easy to do, no?
ReplyDeleteVery easy! Actually, surprisingly easy. The first time I did this I tried to poor the beads into a shallow dish to dip my finger into, but it's actually much easier (and cleaner) to just dip your finger into the container itself.
DeleteI already went to pick up more microbead colours, and I know I'll be doing this when I want to jazz a mani up.
Your color choice is lovely. The white looks so feminine, I love it!!! Definitely agree that it looks best on an accent nail rather than the whole hand!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley! I'm rather fond of how it looks, too. I think next time I may try the black beads on a black polish- I like when it matches.
